Programme Lead: Dr Belinda Yuen (LKYCIC, SUTD)
The Programme on Urban Innovation is designed around a better understanding of what innovation means in today’s cities, why it is so important to producing better outcomes, the multi-faceted processes and actors that propel it, and its implications for society and policy.
Cities around the world are innovating and fostering innovation ecosystems to address urban challenges and improve city competitiveness and liveability. Even though there is growing research to measure the development of innovative cities, there is less understanding on the dynamics and sustainability of innovation. Cities and Innovation aims to investigate the dynamics and performance of innovation, especially at the local scale. It explores the questions of why, how and what in these innovation ecosystems and innovation habitats to facilitate urban policymaking.
