Biography
Sobah Abbas Petersen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and a Senior Research Scientist at SINTEF Digital, Norway. She is self-motivated researcher with experience in Smart and Sustainable Urban Futures, Enterprise Modelling and Innovation and Technology enhanced working and learning. She is interested in using data and technology in innovative ways to create value for a smarter and better society, that puts the people in focus.
Her current projects focus on the energy, built environments, the natural environment, health and wellbeing and digital technologies nexus. Her research focuses on enhancing the awareness and knowledge among citizens to support behaviour change and choices towards sustainable transitions. She has experience from multidisciplinary projects, co-design processes, gamification and working with NGOs, public authorities, industry and a variety of user groups. She uses a variety of research methods that engages with the users, such as co-creation and field experiments.
As an educator, she engages with her students through active learning tasks, interactions and discussions and provides regular feedback to her students. She currently teaches a Masters level course on Enterprise Architecture for enterprise innovation and a multidisciplinary group-based course on Smart and Sustainable cities. She has recently been merited as an Excellent Teaching Practitioner at NTNU.
