Biography

Chua Lay Peng (Christiana) is a part-time Research Associate at the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC).

Christiana was among the pioneer system developers in Singapore to embrace web technologies at the turn of the 21st century. Her passion for a human-centric approach to system development and design sparked her life-long exploration of design and innovation. Her disciplines include Information Technology, Product Design, and User Experience. She seeks to conduct research in a systematic, regenerative approach to find co-winning solutions for businesses and communities. Christiana sees teaching as a channel for deepening and sharing knowledge and skills. She had previously taught at polytechnics and conducted online User Experience and Design Thinking workshops.

During her postgraduate study at the National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), Christiana undertook a cross-cultural study in Singapore, Taipei, and Tokyo to explore design factors of designated smoking spaces to reduce second-hand smoke in busy thoroughfares. She further her research under the Environmental Behavioural Sciences & Economics Research Unit (under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment) to determine the effectiveness of designated smoking spaces in reducing second-hand smoke along Orchard Road, Singapore.

She is supporting King Wang and team on the "Future-Ready Multi-Generational Workers" project.
