The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC) at the Singapore University of Technology and Design is looking to fill two full-time postdoctoral research positions to join a multi-disciplinary team of researchers doing exciting work on innovation and its effects on economic and social development in cities.

Description

The Chen Tianqiao Programme on Innovation in Cities at the LKYCIC is a new multi-disciplinary research initiative that aims to do empirically-grounded research on what it means for cities to be innovative.  Given the current policy focus on innovation as a driver of most new sources of growth in the economy, and increasingly as a mode of organizing the delivery of urban services within cities, a key objective of this research is the development of elements of a new framework for thinking about the connection between innovative process and outcome in cities.

The successful candidate can be expected to be involved in:  reviewing and reporting on relevant research on innovation;  collecting a variety of quantitative and qualitative data pertinent to innovation activity in cities;  and conducting some independent research on the topic.  The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the preparation of written reports and papers for the research project.

Desired Qualifications:

Candidates with a post-graduate qualification in the social sciences, and with an interest in research, are encouraged to apply with the aim of working with a diverse set of urban innovation and economic data to examine the nature and structure of networks between innovation actors, and their impact in terms of growth and development.
