CNA produced a documentary featuring LKYCIC research fellow Dr Samuel Chng on the psychology of climate inaction. The show has a tongue-in-cheek title, ‘Who cares about polar bears’, which alludes that the climate inaction we face today is partly because we find it challenging to relate to climate change. Here, we explored cognitive biases underlying our climate inaction using a series of social experiments and activities for the public audience. This was informed by ongoing research conducted by Dr Samuel Chng and Dr Harvey Neo in the Urban Psychology Lab and the Programme on Urban Environmental Sustainability at the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at SUTD. Our current batch of MUSPP students also participated in the filming!
