Synopsis

Airbnb has redefined the way people travel, offering an alternative to mass produced tourism by allowing travelers to immerse themselves in the communities they visit. Join Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia as he shares more about the role design has played in Airbnb’s growth story. He will also share more about the next phase of Airbnb’s growth, Airbnb Trips, and how this will reimagine tourism. The session will be moderated by Professor Chan Heng Chee, and is supported by the Economic Development Board.

About the speaker

Joe Gebbia is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Airbnb. An entrepreneur from an early age, Airbnbs groundbreaking service began in his San Francisco apartment, creating a new economy and redefining travel for thousands of people around the world. He is involved in crafting the company culture and design aesthetic, and innovating future growth opportunities. Joe has spoken globally about entrepreneurship and design. His lifelong appreciation for art and design led him to the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he earned dual degrees in Graphic Design and Industrial Design. Gebbia serves on the institution’s Board of Trustees.
