Synopsis
The Lee Kuan Yew and the Physical Transformation of Singapore Conference will share with Singaporeans and others, Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s role in the spatial development issues of Singapore. These issues include city planning, housing, greening, and our water strategy. Pioneers, leaders and decision makers who have contributed to building Singapore’s innovations in these areas will be sharing their experience as speakers, respondents and moderators. The Conference will end with a session on the future transformational challenges of Singapore.
It will give everyone a deeper appreciation of Mr Lee’s contributions, and also the decisions and considerations that have made Singapore successful in these urban areas. It will be a fitting celebration of Mr Lee on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
Book Publication
A Chance of a Lifetime: Lee Kuan Yew and the Physical Transformation of Singapore is a book based on the conference. It is a co-publication by the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKY CIC) and the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC). The book was launched during the World Cities Summit 2016 at the Lee Kuan Yew Prize Award Ceremony and Banquet on 11 July 2016.
