
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh (UEH) on 17 July 2024 during the 2nd International Conference on Resilience by Technology and Design to collaborate in interdisciplinary and sustainable urban development research and education.
SUTD was represented by Professor Cheong Koon Hean, Chair of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC). UEH was represented Dr Trinh Tu-Anh, Director of the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM). The signing was witnessed by UEH President, Professor Su Dinh Thanh.
The MoU cements a growing collaboration between LKYCIC and ISCM as part of SUTD’s focus on sustainable urban development in ASEAN cities led by LKYCIC.
The first Junior Researcher Programme for undergraduate students was held in January 2024. This is a two-way exchange programme immersing students from both universities in urban challenges and opportunities in Singapore and Ho Chi Minh city, culminating in student-initiated research pilots conducted in both cities.
